Insecticide Use by Small-Scale Ugandan Cassava Growers: An Economic Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cassava is the second most important source of calories in Sub-Saharan Africa. It subject to economically yield losses from viral diseases, including cassava brown streak disease and mosaic disease. These diseases are vectored by whitefly, so improved approaches for whitefly control needed enable smallholder farmers protect their crops. To investigate economic viability insecticide applications against effect four application regimes on three genotypes (NASE 3, NASE 12, MKUMBA) a local landrace were evaluated, different farmer groups. Data collected researcher–farmer managed fields descriptive statistics analyzed. Insecticide personal protective equipment major costs those that applied dipping treatment had marginal rate return 1.66 (166%), demonstrating this option was profitable effective. While users incurred more production costs, they also accrued profit than non-insecticide users, especially if at early stages growth. There clear need, therefore, strengthen commercialization crop through plant protection measures such as judicious susceptible varieties, increase quality.

Techno-economic Analysis of Small Scale Electricity Generation from the Lignocellulosic Biomass
In this study, the techno-economic analysis of lignocellulosic biomass conversion to electricity in a small scale power plant was conducted. The proposed process is based on the thermal pathway of electricity production from a carbon content feed. Woods, forest and agricultural residues were considered as the biomass feed, which are available extensively in Iran. Besides, the process benefits n...
متن کاملCASSAVA : Consumption and Digestibility by Small Children
To determine whether increasing proporlions of cassava could be consumed and satisfactorily digested, eight recovering malnourished children (20-38 mo old) received 25, 50 and 75% of their diet energy as freeze-dried cassava flour during 9-d periods, with inter vening casein control diets. Enough casein was added to all cassava diets to bring protein energy to 8% of the total. When compared to...
